Washington College offers a weekend shuttle service from the campus with stops at the Annapolis Mall and New Carrollton Metro Station. From New Carrollton, students may make connections to the Metro transit system and also to Amtrak. The weekend shuttle offers a trip to and from Annapolis and New Carrollton Station once each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
NEW - As of October 5, 2009, there are new payment options to make advance payment easier. Please review the revised text below for more information. Additional information about the new options is available on the shuttle reservations WebAdvisor site.
The cost of a one-way trip with an advance reservation, payable on-line, is $5 per person, $10 round trip. Reservations are strongly recommended and each ride is $5 one-way. Without a reservation, rides are first come, first served, based on availability, and the cost of a one-way ride is $10.
Reservations and payment for the weekend shuttle are arranged by following a three-step process.
Step 1: Make a Reservation below.
Step 2: While making the reservation, you will be prompted for Payment Method: a credit card or e-check, charge to your valid WC account (for those who have charging privileges) or cash (exact change paid to the driver at time of shuttle).
Option A. Credit Card/E-Check Click on the Make Payment link and follow the instructions on the site. (Important: when making payment, select the 'Shuttle Reservation' option only!) You may pay by credit card (a convenience fee will apply), by e-check (no additional fee but you will need your bank routing number and personal account information) Please note the Make Payment site will accept only one payment each day. You may pay for a round trip ticket ($5 each way for a total of $10 round trip) and print one receipt. You must show the receipt on the first leg of your shuttle ride and the driver will collect the receipt on the second leg of your shuttle ride. Print your payment receipt! The payment receipt is your shuttle 'ticket.'
Option B. Charge to your valid WC account (for those who have charging privileges).
Option C. Cash (you must have exact change)
Step 3: Give your cash or payment receipt to the driver. (For a round trip, you must show the receipt on the first leg of your shuttle ride and the driver will collect the receipt on the second leg of your shuttle ride.) Students without a payment receipt will be required to pay the full cost of $10 each way if space is available (even if you have made a reservation and paid).
If you are charging to your account, it will be noted on the shuttle roster.
If payment is not made online but at the time of the trip, the exact cash amount is required. (Drivers are not able to make change.) Please be aware that because of the structure of the online payment system, payments are not refundable but, under certain circumstances, an unused payment may appear as a credit on the student/staff member's account.
To make the shuttle on time, please plan your trip accordingly. The shuttle will not wait more than a few minutes (less than 5) for delayed passengers. Students who arrive late and delay the shuttle departure may be assessed a late departure fee.
